Trust and Surrender
Jump-scare this article is about trusting God... completely
This month’s theme is Trust and Surrender! If you remember my previous article about my Bible plan for 2026 (it’s pinned), you’ll recall that each month has a megatheme, and February’s theme is Trust and Surrender. The plan was to post this earlier in the month for you folks to follow along, but boy… February has really slayed me. A few days before the new month, I lost my remaining source of income. I’ve been working as a freelancer for a few years, so that’s why I worded it this way, lol.
I remember that day with perfect recall, me reciting, “Lord, I trust You in whatever comes next.” So imagine my surprise when I went to dive into my discipline for February and saw TRUST. I simply giggled to myself because why couldn’t the theme be abundance? But God said, let’s see if you meant what you said. And test me in that He did.
Now, I am no stranger to being between employment, so that didn’t necessarily shake me. I can usually sense the end of a thing, so I wasn’t completely shocked, and my heart was craving the next glory anyway. What has gotten me is the weight of the rest of the month—it’s really bearing down on my soul, for so many reasons. But at last, I’m letting myself feel the feels without challenging God. I’ve dived into my plan and studied trust and surrender for the 28 days, secretly smiling because it’s the shortest month of the year.
Here are my focus scriptures and a writing prompt if you’d like to follow along:
February — Trust & Surrender
Releasing controlProverbs 3
Psalm 37
Matthew 6
Isaiah 30
Isaiah 55
Reflection prompt:
What am I being invited to release or entrust to God?
Obviously, we cannot talk about trust without mentioning Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”
The type of trust mentioned in this verse requires full confidence in God. It expresses placing your full weight on someone or something with calm assurance. The image that came to mind was a trust fall, except there’s no visual assurance that someone is behind you to catch you, and the fall is 30 feet up. While the assurance isn’t tangible, the command “trust in the Lord with your whole heart” is, and it’s freaking scary.
But as believers, we’re not only asked to trust God in this way—it’s required. It’s an expectation of our covenant with Him. Similar to marriage, would you marry someone you do not completely trust? God wants us to rely on Him in this way. Trust is something you exercise. Every day, we have opportunities to show God our trust in small things—waking up each day, protecting ourselves and our loved ones. But it’s often in the areas where we lean on self-reliance the most that He’s inviting us to surrender.
Surrender is another spooky word. Trust encompasses total surrender; the two go hand in hand. Total—completely. God wants it all, not just a small slice. You can’t delegate surrender like, “Here Lord, You can have this area, but I’ll keep this one because I have plans.” That doesn’t work; that’s partial trust.
So whether in the small or the big, we’re invited to trust God with all of us, in totality: health, finances, love life, future, family, friendships, emotions—everything.
So today, I challenge you to put this into practice and ask yourself: What am I being invited to release or entrust to God?
~
Until next time, friends!
Keep pressing on, knowing that the One who calls us is faithful to see us through every step of the way

Amen, beautiful share. I giggled, I thought, I visualized the weight of these words- both relating to being in between employment and trusting in Him.
